How TreeRead chooses what to do.

TreeRead is a short reading routine for families. It is not a full reading curriculum, a tutor, or a diagnostic test. The app gives a child one readable story, a few comprehension questions, and a calm way to try again with evidence from the text.

Keep the work short enough to finish

TreeRead uses one short story at a time because second-grade readers need real reading practice, not a long assignment. A finished session gives the parent and child a clean stopping point.

Ask about the text, then point back to it

Each story ends with a few questions about what happened. When a child misses one, the app sends them back to the sentence that helps, so the habit is simple: look again, use the story, try once more.

Practice words inside real sentences

The stories use controlled difficulty, repeated patterns, and grade-level vocabulary, but the child still reads connected text. Word work matters most when it supports understanding the story.

Use progress as a record, not a scoreboard

The tree marks completed reading. It does not rank children, rush them, or punish mistakes. The goal is a visible record of steady practice that a family can keep returning to.

Design for a parent sitting nearby

TreeRead assumes an adult can listen, help with a hard word, and keep the moment calm. The app handles structure; the parent keeps the reading human.
